The exam season is on the horizon once more and it can be a stressful time for many students and their families. Plan ahead

When preparing for exam season, it’s always best to plan ahead and make sure you have enough time to prepare. Creating a revision timetable is invaluable, as it allows you to work backwards from the date of your exam and ensures that you have enough time to fit everything in.

Chunk learning

Break your revision up into chunks. This can be done in multiple layers: separate your subjects in the first instance, then the topics within them and finally the areas in which you’re confident and those that will need more time. Make sure you leave space to test yourself on each area so you can keep checking your understanding.

Schedule breaks

No one can keep working relentlessly through the exam season so don’t put yourself under that pressure, as it isn’t great for your wellbeing. Instead, make sure you plan breaks and give yourself time to step away from your books and past papers. Get outside as much as you can and plan rewards or activities you enjoy.

Keep perspective

It’s great to have goals, but again, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. As hard as it may be, try to keep perspective through the exam season and know that trying your best is all that anyone can expect from you.

Working alongside a tutor around the exam season can help make the learning process more enjoyable and less stressful.
