The people behind the business

Choice Home Tutoring was founded by Colin and Jo Murphy, a dedicated husband-and-wife team with over 30 years’ experience in education and a shared passion for helping students succeed.

Colin is a former Assistant Headteacher at secondary school level.

After a teaching career spanning over 20 years, he left the profession in 2016 to join the Choice team full time.

He now focuses on the strategic development of the business, while ensuring it remains true to its core values and high standards.

Also a former teacher, Jo has held a range of senior roles. Her experience spans A-level and BTEC delivery, as well as working as a GCSE exam moderator.

As the main point of contact for families, Jo provides a service that is personal, responsive and friendly.

Using their extensive experience, Colin and Jo have built a tutoring service centred on high-quality, tailored support which has genuinely made a difference to the many thousands of students they have supported over the years.

They recognise that every child learns differently, and that the right support, delivered in the right way, can transform not only academic performance but confidence and motivation too.

Their approach is rooted in care, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of the challenges students and parents face. They are passionate about creating a supportive experience for families, guiding them through the process and ensuring they feel confident every step of the way.
